Hello, Dr. Keith Smith with you on behalf of the Free Market Medical Association (FMMA), thank you for joining me once again.

Our annual meeting here in Oklahoma City is drawing near and will be held August 17 through the 19. I would encourage any of you that are interested to check out the website: FMMA.org and sign up for this very exciting conference. This will be, without any doubt in my mind, the most exciting and best of all the conferences that we’ve had so far.

One part of the conference for which I am particularly excited, is our keynote speaker. Dr. Yuri Maltsev is a Russian defector who was an economist and has had the distinct pleasure, I think you can call it, of working in the giant bureaucracies here in this country and in the Soviet Union. He has a very unique perspective on socialized medicine and on health care. At the bottom of the written version of this blog you will find a link to a YouTube video, where he delivered, in Boise, Idaho in 1995, an incredible lecture to the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons annual meeting.

I had the pleasure of being present in the crowd and as you hear the laughter in the audience you will probably know that I was the one laughing the loudest. I am very excited to have Dr. Maltsev here, he has a wry sense of humor, he’s brilliant and he has all of the experience that anybody could possibly have on the inside of a socialized health care scheme. He will provide a unique perspective to everyone in attendance.
