Signs your hospital is charging too much

What if I were to tell you that the Surgery Center of Oklahoma has decided to buy 10 physician practices? You would rightly say, “if you have the money to buy 10 physician’s practices you are charging too much,” and you would be right. What if I were to tell you the Surgery Center of Oklahoma has decided to expand and franchise or buy out three or four of our competitors that are struggling in this marketplace? You would say, “if you have the money to do that, you’re charging too much or your prices are too high,” and you would be correct.

What if I were to tell you that we decided to buy billboards and ads all over the Oklahoma City area, to nationally advertise and buy television advertising? You would say, “if you have the money to do that, then you’re charging too much,” and you would be right.

We, of course, are doing none of these things. People ask, “How can your prices be so low?” Actually fewer people ask that, more people are asking, “How can these giant hospital’s prices be so high?” That truly is where the light should be shone.

Our prices are low because we own our facility and we do not gouge patients based on the facility charge. The physicians here are paid fairly for the work that they do, but we don’t try to generate a massive profit from the facility that we own and operate. We do not have the revenue to buy physician practices, buy out our competitors or to buy expensive advertising and billboards and we never will. If we did, our prices would have to be much, much higher. Similar to those many of you have been charged all over the United States by the price gougers.
