“The free market doesn’t apply to healthcare.”
I don’t know how many times I have heard this, although the pricing and quality resulting from the Surgery Center of Oklahoma’s and others’ implementation of the principles and discipline of the market has caused many naysayers to reconsider this statement. Healthcare economists are also loudly banging the drums for market applicability in the healthcare industry.
Anyone who remains unconvinced should read this U.S. NEWS article by Robert Graboyes and seriously consider attending this year’s Free Market Medical Association meeting in Oklahoma City. Attendees will represent almost every aspect of healthcare delivery and if last year is any judge, the same attendees will be more than happy to pass along stories and accounts of high quality patient experiences at affordable prices, all the result of a market approach to healthcare delivery.
Thanks to Robert Graboyes for this fabulous article.
