Crony. Vichy. What’s the difference? The difference is that a crony tries to keep quiet about their thieving relationship with their kept politicians. Vichy are cheerleaders for the winning team, even if Joe Stalin is running things. No shame. I call the guys that angle for the federal contracts and profit off of the taxpayer’s backs Vichy capitalists. Here’s one. He basically says, “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.” His article could have been called,”How to profit from the death panels.” I’m surprised that he didn’t call for the creation of a new medical specialty, euthanology, as the demand for these skills will be evident soon enough. Hey! It’s a growth industry! Better jump on it!
Just because it makes money, doesn’t make it right. HMO’s largely fell out of favor when people realized that a lot of health care Vichy were making money by seeing to it that no one got any care. Wall Street was deciding whether folks got care or not. Sure they got the cheap wellness stuff, but nothing of any substance without an intense fight and wait. Deja vu.
Those with more courage than the author of the above link are fighting the Unaffordable Care Act’s implementation. Cheerleaders for the mercenaries have another agenda. Maybe they will think about this differently when a family members’ illness affects their stock portfolio, thus bringing the euthanologist to their bedside.
