The “spiraling” cost of healthcare

The “spiraling” cost of healthcare

Dr. Keith Smith with, Surgery Center of Oklahoma. Thank you for joining me in this series.

No, you’re not looking at me; you’re looking at our website. I want to talk to you a little bit about the spiraling cost of healthcare and show you what we think of that myth at the Surgery Center of Oklahoma. This is our website. You can see we are looking at the throat section: Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy. The price is $3,695.

On this other screen this is where I change the prices. I thought it might be fun for you all to watch me actually do it. When I click on procedures and search for Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy, you can see the price we have – $3,695 – is the same as Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy on the pricing screen.  Okay, now we are going to edit this.

The new price due to the spiraling cost of healthcare is going to be $3,100.  I’m updating it and the post says it’s updated, and due to the outrageous spiraling cost of healthcare we just lowered our price from $3,695 to $3,100.

Now what we’ll do is go back over to the website and refresh it and we will look once again for the prices of the throat: Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy. And poof! There you have it.  The spiraling cost of this procedure is $3,100 now.

I’m going to do this again in the next video. I’m going to show you another price that has been afflicted by this incredible spiraling cost of healthcare.

Stay tuned!
